Winter Wonderland?

I'm pretty sure http://www.this-is-sudan.blogspot.com/ is glad she's in AFRICA right about now.

This was the dreadful beginning.

And this was the dreadful end.

Thankfully today looks much better!
I guess the Capitol dome can make anything look good.

Beer Pocket aka The Bocket

We can't really explain this...
...but in Texas, we drink our beer so fast we don't need a pocket.

Seis de Mayo

One might wonder if it is a good career move to show up to work still wearing your sombrero on the 6th of May, but we say, "Viva Mexico!!!!"

China: The Great

Here we go, round two of pictures from our wonderful trip to Beijing and Hong Kong. Hope you enjoyed round one and are ready to get into some more of our adventures!

China: The GREAT

Here we are at Mutianyu on the Great Wall. Ready for a climb anyone?

We had an overcast day at the Wall, but that didn't stop us.
A lot of clouds and a lot of stairs!

We took a tour through the hutong district on this rickshaw.

The famous Hong Kong skyline from the top of Victoria Peak.

The beautiful skyline, sans the Sisters McWright.

After a long and winding drive down to Stanley Market,
we grabbed some lunch overlooking the water.

The Tian Tan Buddha, or the Big Buddha -
one of the largest buddhas in the world.

And the Big Buddha from afar.

So, up next...the CRAZY! I know you'll be waiting on the edge of your seats until then.

Battle of the Birthdays

The McWright sisters both have winter birthdays, and there's no better way to beat cabin fever than a night out on the town. Thanks to our great friends for always making our birthday celebrations so memorable. So, on to the battle...

Julie: New Mexicans, four blondes, dancing, and animal print robes.

Jamie: live music, dancing, good beer, and sleeping strangers.

Let the voting commence!

China: The Good, The Great, The Crazy

You can't get more perfect than China for our very first post. We traveled to Beijing, Xi'an, and Hong Kong this summer, and while this blog is supposed to be about our crazy life in D.C., China truly brought forth the good, the great, and the crazy.

So, here's a sneak peek into our visit to the east, beginning with the good...

China: The GOOD

Tons of porcelain for sale at the Dirt Market.
Love the shopping!

Here's the Olympic swimming venue - The Cube.
Bring your floaties!

Just lounging around at the Bird's Nest.

Here's a full view of the Bird's Nest.
Ready to run anyone?

Mmmmm...Pringles and beer. The breakfast of champions.
Just watch out for the pink chips - is that a shrimp flavor?

The lights of Hong Kong's skyline -
reminds us of Times Square.

Due to construction, the red wall of the
Tiananmen gate was actually green.

And of course, these Texas girls can find
margaritas anywhere they go!
A huge shout-out thank you to Joanna and Michael for a their generous hospitality while we were in China. Our vacation would not have been the same without you!
Well, that's it for now, but stayed tuned for the great and the crazy of China...and of course, there's always a little craziness here at home.
Hope you enjoy our blog!
